Taghazout Bay is not the village
A regional tourism portal separates the old village, with its lanes, cafรฉs and surf shops, from the modern resort project called Taghazout Bay. The project website lists hotel sites on the beach and on the hill by the golf course, plus residential offers. When a hotel has Taghazout Bay in its name, it is not always on the sand.
This is how the operator presents the area. It does not mean that visitors may walk into a hotel or use its pool, so do not plan to treat hotels as public sights. Where this page gives a price or a date, it is the one published in 2026.

How the resort area is laid out
Two settings, according to the project website.
On the beach
Hotels are listed at the beach. The Marriott is one of them and stands at kilometre 16 on the Route d'Essaouira. Check-in is from 3 p.m. and check-out is at noon.
On the hill by the golf course
The project also lists hotels above the beach, near the course. Check the distance to the sand before you book, and do not assume a short walk.
Homes and apartments
Residential offers sit alongside the hotels. For most visitors they matter only as a sign of what the area is.

The Marriott, opened July 2026
What is published about the new hotel.
Size and date
The opening was announced with 250 rooms, including 29 suites. The press page is dated 2 July 2026 and the text 1 July 2026. Older articles that call it a future hotel are out of date.
No airport shuttle
The hotel says it does not run its own airport shuttle. Arrange a transfer before you land. The getting there page lists the published options.
Parking
Free self-parking is listed for hotel guests. That says nothing about parking in the village or for day visitors.
One closed restaurant
The hotel page marks its restaurant BRAZE as temporarily closed. That concerns one restaurant, not the hotel. Check the dining list when you book.
Golf Tazegzout: 27 holes or 18?
Two published figures that do not agree.
| Source | What it says |
|---|---|
| Resort website | 27 holes, 30 hectares of playing area; 9 holes added to the original 18 in November 2021 |
| National tourism office | 18 holes, par 72, 6,730 m |
| Course operator | Three courses called Green, Red and Blue, 9 holes each, with a tee-time booking option |
The sources do not agree, so ask the club which holes are open on your day. The 2021 extension is an older event, not a 2026 opening. Ask the club for current greenfees, for any handicap rules and for whether you need to book.
Surfing and the beaches near the bay
The bay has surf spots of its own, and the surf page covers them with levels and hazards. Anchor Point and Killer Point are for experienced surfers. For beginners, the sandy beaches near Tamraght are the usual lesson spots. See surfing in Taghazout and the Tamraght page.
Ask your hotel about access to the beach in front of it, entry fees and opening hours. If your trip also takes you into Agadir, the city has its own guide at Visit Agadir, and the airport side is covered at the Agadir airport page.

Reading the resort's claims
Operator descriptions and what they cover.
Sustainability wording
The project website presents environmental and sustainability aims. This is the operator's own communication, not an independent certification, so read it as a description of intent.
Golf visits
The operator lists a tee-time booking option. That does not mean booking is compulsory, so ask the club how it works for walk-ins.
Getting from the village
The Bay lies on the same coast road as the village, and the Marriott sits at kilometre 16 on the Route d'Essaouira. Local lines 32 and 33 serve the coast, according to a regional guide. Times and fares change, so ask your hotel.
Taghazout Bay: frequently asked questions
What is Taghazout Bay?
A planned resort area on the coast near the village of Taghazout, with beach and hillside hotels, residential offers and a golf course. The village itself is older and separate.
Is the Marriott open?
Yes. The Taghazout Bay Marriott opened in July 2026 with 250 rooms, including 29 suites. One restaurant, BRAZE, was marked as temporarily closed on the hotel page.
How many holes does the Tazegzout golf course have?
The resort says 27 and the national tourism office says 18. The course operator shows three 9-hole courses. Ask the club which are open.
How far is the airport?
The Marriott gives 43 km from Agadir Al Massira airport to its hotel. That is a hotel distance, not a measured route to the village centre.
Can I visit a hotel pool or beach without staying?
Ask the hotel before you go, and do not count on a day pass.
