Taghazout in a nutshell

Taghazout lies on the Atlantic coast in the Agadir-Taghazout tourism area. The national tourism office describes it as a former fishing village with surf and accommodation offers. Regional sources put it roughly 20 km from Agadir. The village has lanes, cafรฉs and surf shops, and it is the starting point for most visitors who come for the waves.

Do not mix up the village with Taghazout Bay. That is a separate resort development on the same coast with beach hotels, a golf course and apartments. This guide covers both, plus Tamraght, Aourir and Imsouane. It is an independent site, not run by a tourism office, a hotel, a surf camp or a tour company. Prices are listed as published in 2026 and they change.

Good to know in autumn 2026

Where older guides are out of date.

Cash machines exist

An older claim says Taghazout has no cash machine. A surf camp now lists machines on the main road, about 50 m from its cafรฉ. That is no guarantee that a machine works or has cash, so bring some dirham from the airport.

The Marriott is open

The Taghazout Bay Marriott opened in July 2026 with 250 rooms. Older articles that call it a future hotel are out of date.

Taghazout Bay โ†’

Golf: 27 or 18 holes

The resort describes the Tazegzout course with 27 holes. The national tourism office still lists 18. Both are published, so ask the club what is open.

The airport bus stops in Agadir

The ALSA Aerobus costs MAD 50 one way, but it runs between the airport and Agadir. It is not a through ticket to Taghazout.

Getting there โ†’

Surf Expo, 22 to 25 October 2026

The event is announced for Anchor Point. Check the programme before you plan a session there.

Imsouane changed in 2024

Buildings on the beach were demolished in January 2024. That is not a closure of the village, but older photos and listings may show places that no longer stand.

Beyond this stretch of coast

Neighbouring places that have their own guides.

The city of Agadir, its airport side and the Paradise Valley excursion belong to Visit Agadir. For a day or two in a walled port town, see Essaouira to the north. If your trip includes the imperial city, Marrakech has its own guide. This site stays with Taghazout and the villages around it.
